CANSTRUCTION® is a charity competition to design and build structures made entirely from canned foods using a strict set of rules and no permanent adhesives. Five person teams comprised of architects, engineers, and contractors come together to design and build a giant structure made entirely from full cans of food. At the close of the competition all of the food is donated to local food banks where the competitions are held. This year in the Phoenix CANstruction, there were 11 teams representing 29 companies who donated over 50,000 cans values at $42,000 were donated to St. Mary’s Food Bank.

For the past 87 years, the Academy Awards has been held to celebrated the world’s best actors, directors, screen writers, etc. who have brought creativity and dreams into reality to share with everyone. Built of gold coated britannia and a black metal base, the Oscar awards the true dreamer and celebrates their excellence in cinematography. This year in our effort to complete the life-size statuette, our goal was to represent a highly recognized figure to promote our mission; taking a winning stance against hunger by combining imagination and ingenuity, while spreading the dream of feeding all those in need.
It was a fun event, with lots of hard work for a very good cause.
