Drafter

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under general supervision, coordinates information, communicates pertinent information, details precast drawings and performs related work as required or assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • prepare and check construction drawings
  • coordinate and communicate information to responsible parties
  • document important information relative to projects
  • maintain all job files in accordance with all Coreslab Structures policies and procedures
  • develop drafting and checking skills
  • maintain equipment, software and supplies
  • secure confidential and intellectual information
  • perform all occupational safety and hazard procedures in conjunction with all essential duties

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

  • basic structural drafting principles and methodology
  • basic construction methods of precast concrete structures
  • operations of computers and supporting equipment
  • occupational hazards and proper safety precautions

Skills in:

  • drafting software applications (AutoCad/ Revit)
  • mathematics including algebra and geometry
  • reading contract documents and drawings

Ability to:

  • complete tasks to meet established deadlines
  • adapt drafting skills to varied project requirements
  • foresee complications affecting deadlines, costs and production schedules or techniques
  • communicate information clearly and effectively to all interested parties
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees
  • communicate effectively as the situation dictates

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, bend or twist; talk and hear, see and focus.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move heavy objects, up to and exceeding 25 pounds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities of this classification.  Must complete and possess all required company training and certification before operating any machinery, equipment or tools.  Must be able to work overtime on short notice, which could exceed 8 hours per shift and/or 40 hours per work week.\
