Industrial Mechanic

A Dual-Ticket Industrial Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician is a highly skilled professional who holds certifications in both millwrighting and electrical work. This unique combination allows them to perform a wide range of maintenance, repair, and installation tasks in industrial settings where mechanical and electrical components coexist. These professionals are crucial for ensuring the seamless operation of machinery, equipment, and systems that involve both mechanical and electrical elements.

Compensation

  • Starting rate between $40 and $45 per hour

Duties / Responsibilities:

  •  Install, maintain, and repair mechanical components such as gears, conveyors, and bearings, EOT Cranes.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, including wiring, switches, and control panels, PLC’s.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure the reliability of both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams for the installation and modification of equipment.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults and malfunctions in machinery.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions, Create maintenance pm’s.
  • Work with hand and power tools to dismantle, assemble, and test machinery and equipment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations in both mechanical and electrical work.
  • Provide technical support and training to junior technicians and apprentices.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, compressors, pumps.
  • Demonstrate good housekeeping practices at all times to help maintain a safe work area.
  • Operate and inspect material handling equipment (such as overhead & mobile cranes); light mobile equipment (such as Forklifts, EOT Cranes, Aerial Lifts, and pickup trucks.
  • Clearly communicate completed tasks by means of producing a daily log (verbal/written/ computerized.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  •  Certifications: Dual trade certification as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Certificate of Qualification (433A) and Electrician.
  • Valid Ontario drive (G) license
  • Experience: Extensive experience in both mechanical and electrical maintenance. Minimum 5 years.
  • Blueprints: Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Temperature Tolerance: The ability to withstand extreme temperatures
  • Reaction Time: The ability to quickly respond to any process breakdowns, and minimize downtime
  • Agility: The ability to negotiate different areas of the plant, including climbing stairs and ladders, and moving around barriers
  • Troubleshooting: Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Industrial Machinery: Knowledge of industrial machinery, automation, and control systems.
  • Trade Tools: Familiarity with hand and power tools used in both trades.
  • Communication: Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail for precision in mechanical and electrical work.
  • Physical: Physical fitness and stamina for the demands of the job and the ability to quickly move and react
  • Continuous Learning: Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on industry advancements. Ariel lift Cert
  • Working At Height’s: Ariel lift Cert.
  • Coach Mechanical: Experience considered an asset
  • Work Environment: The job is within a heavy industrial environment, and you may be required to work within various areas of the facility. Depending on the area you work in, the environmental conditions may be hot, cold, dirty, dusty, wet or noisy.
  • Safety is our highest priority, and safety procedures and guidelines must be adhered to at all times. This includes wearing personal protective equipment, such as a hard hats, eye protection, hearing protection, respirators, flame retardant clothing and safety Boots with metatarsal protection at all times during a work shift;
  • Expected work schedule is 8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday.  The position may require you to work overtime as needed including weekend.
