Project Attributes:
11-story, 573,670 square feet, 2,020 parking stalls, 75 days of construction. The precast solution utilized the 12’-0” wide, 28” deep precast double tee and a 36’-0” x 61’-0” typical bay spacing to capture the efficiencies of the precast modular system. Due to the height of the structure, the vertical precast components were slightly larger than for a standard parking structure, i.e. 28”x36” exterior columns, 30”x 36” interior columns, 10” thick interior precast shear-walls, vertical ramp lite-walls, 12” thick exterior shear-walls and architectural ramp lite-walls. The architectural precast spandrels were 8” x 7’-0” tall. Additionally, the vertical components were split into two lifts and in the case of the 12” exterior architectural lite-walls -three lifts due to size and weight handling issues.

Kitchell, the general contractor took full advantage of their ability to complete the site preparation work while the pre-fabrication of the precast components were taking place off-site, which resulted in fewer trades on-site at any given time affording a much safer construction process. Experienced general contractor’s like Kitchell capture the speed of precast erection/construction that benefits them most by compressing their overall project schedule.
