Methodist Richardson Medical Center needed to expand due to an increased number of patients and required additional parking to meet their needs. Precast was selected for the parking garage to provide an aggressive and high-quality schedule, while staying contained to a small site and maintaining minimal impact on the existing hospital operations during construction.
The seven-level parking garage boasts 671 spaces and a total area of 222,000 square-feet. Precast was installed in just nine weeks, while allowing continuous use of the adjacent ER and main hospital entrance. With only five weeks of production lead time required, the precast construction was able to sufficiently meet the project’s aggressive schedule. The project consisted of 722 pieces of precast to create 181,000 square-feet of elevated precast deck, nearly 10,000 thinset bricks in select exterior members, an aluminum metal panel system, and architecturally finished precast panels.
These elements were all designed to complement the existing dimensional brick used throughout the facility, making the garage a seamless addition to the campus architecture.
