Greenfield Central High School Auditorium – Greenfield, IN
Project Overview
Coreslab Structures (INDIANAPOLIS) Inc. was proud to contribute to the new Greenfield Central High School Auditorium, a landmark 45,000-square-foot facility designed to serve as a cultural hub for students and the community. This state-of-the-art auditorium, which seats 1,400 people, required a building solution that combined architectural elegance, structural integrity, and accelerated construction to meet the school district’s timeline. Precast concrete was the ideal choice.
The project utilized 84 insulated precast wall panels, totaling an impressive 39,713 square feet. The scope included both structural gray concrete panels and architecturally detailed panels. The architectural panels were the project’s standout feature, clad with a custom blend of three types of thin brick—MetroBrick Brownstone, Glen Gery Brazilwood, and Glen Gery Pearl River. This intricate arrangement provided rich texture and depth, allowing the modern auditorium to blend seamlessly with the existing school architecture while maintaining its own distinct identity.
This project showcases the core strengths of precast concrete. The design achieved architectural versatility with a custom thin brick façade, ensuring the new auditorium blended seamlessly with the existing campus. The inherent durability and longevity of the precast panels promise minimal long-term maintenance, while their mass provides essential sound resistance for an optimal acoustic environment. Finally, the off-site manufacturing enabled a fast-track construction timeline, delivering efficiency without compromising quality.
Precast Benefits
The selection of precast concrete for the Greenfield Central High School Auditorium delivered a suite of critical advantages essential for a modern educational facility. First, the solution provided unparalleled design and performance benefits. The architect’s vision was realized through a façade of custom thin brick, showcasing the material’s architectural versatility, while the inherent mass of the 13-inch panels created an acoustically superior environment for performances.
Furthermore, precast concrete offered significant construction and long-term value. The off-site manufacturing process allowed work to proceed concurrently with on-site foundations, drastically accelerating the timeline and minimizing disruption to the school, all while ensuring the project remained within budget.
Ultimately, this approach guaranteed lasting quality. The durable structural gray concrete mix ensures the auditorium will stand the test of time with minimal maintenance, making it a beautiful, functional, and cost-effective asset for the Greenfield Central community for generations to come.
